Sessions generally consist of 3 sections:
Section 1 - Warm-Up
The warm-up lasts about 10 minutes and can include the children talking about themselves, facial expressions, balance, response to musical instruments, synchronising basic actions and a physical warm-up to music.
Section 2 – The Story
This is the main part of Micro Moves and lasts about 30 minutes. The children follow a story or theme and explore different ways of moving and expressing themselves through the use of imagery and props.
Examples of the stories currently available are:
o The Secret Island o The Jungle o Outer Space o The Toy Kingdom o The Theatre Trip |
o The Fantastic Farm o The Christmas Party o The Seaside o The Spooky Castle o The Bunny Rabbits |
Section 3 – Pop Song
Children love pop music and most sessions therefore finish with a quick dance to one of their favourite hits such as ‘Bob the Builder’, ‘Reach for the Stars’ or ‘Show Me the Way to Amarillo’ for example.
You need to provide the following:
o A suitably sized room with a clean floor (carpet or hard floor is fine). There should be no safety hazards and tables/chairs should be moved to the side;
o At least one assistant to help with lining children up, starting music etc;
o A plug socket for our music system.

The same story is delivered during each session for about 5 weeks with only small variations as repetition is one of the key learning methods. Each class lasts 45 minutes and there should be no more than two weeks between each class. All participants receive a certificate of achievement on the final week.
